Yo-yo Learning
As adults we are yo-yo learners.
If something sparks our interest we want to know more - we bookmark to read up more about it, watch videos on it. If we’re still interested, we continue our pursuit - we read books, chat with people about it. On things that magically still capture our (short-lived) interest, we write, reflect and apply.
There are things for which we lose interest too fast - they capture our interest just in that fleeting moment and then it’s gone. We don’t think about it again. And sometimes learning is like a fad, it comes and goes.
Learning is like meandering - far from being the linear and structured process that we’re used to in our formative years. And you know what? Sometimes that is the best part.
