Learning Nerd’s Diary #12 😋

Hi folks!

Welcome back to the the Learning Nerd’s Diary.

It’s been a fun week back home in Delhi. Catching-up with family, friends and obviously fuelled by lots and lots of good food. Let’s dig in!

Conversational Currency

Besides the social outings last week, I also ended up having a lot of conversations about learning, design & research last week. These conversations were with people I didn’t really know - people reached out to me on Twitter, LinkedIn to chat, pick my brain or seek some help. Since I was home, I was sharing this with my parents and they found it quite strange that I’m getting on calls with people I don’t know.

This is not a zero sum game and I’m more than happy to share what I know. To be honest, I find most of these conversations quite thought provoking. They also help me crystallise what I know and get a sense of where they think I can add value. So overall, its a win-win! (Though I think I gain more than the other person but shhh..)

Coolest Things I Learnt This Week

Progress is an intersection: I’ve come back home after 6 months and being 15kg lighter than I was when I left. I made serious changes in my food - but that’s a story for another day. Everyone I’m meeting has been telling me - “You’ve become half now!”, even H has been jokingly calling me “Half girlfriend” now. All this talk of weight loss has got me thinking about progress and how measurement and time are so key to be able to see it.

  • Measurement because capturing that delta however incremental is essential and

  • Time because incremental progress is not very visible tangibly

Reel making: I’ve always been fascinated by videos and editing. Fascinated because it’s something I haven’t explored fully. It’s also been one of those things that I’ve been thinking about especially in the context of food and recipes. Have been procrastinating a lot on it but this week I made my first reel! We were taking Shuffle to the vet and his floppy ears reminded me of only one song. Check it out -

Food is best enjoyed when shared: For me my love for food comes from my love for people and being able to enjoy the too together. And to be honest there is no better city that understands food quite like Delhi does. And my family? We are obsessed with food. It was my mum’s birthday last week and we went out for a family lunch, just a tiny example of what I mean -

That's it for this week folks, see you around!
