Build your Identity as a Learning Experience Designer

“The time you want the map … is before you enter the woods.”

The Year is 2021

I have just joined NextLeap to co-lead the LxD team. A colleague very innocently asks me - “I thought there were only teachers, what does an LxD do?”

This question sparked an idea to write an article on ‘The Anatomy of a Learning Experience Designer’. The article was an attempt to make sense of the work I was doing at the time and share it with other people.

The article since then has been read by over a thousand people from across the globe! It has helped me prioritise my own practice and helped me hone my craft. Every year, I would pull up the anatomy and look at skills I would like to focus on this year.

Fast forward to early 2024

We get a request from an organisation to do a workshop with their LxD team to help them get clarity on their role, figure out where they stand and help build learning goals for the next year.

Harsh Doshi & I used the framework I had been using for 3 years to build a 1 day offline workshop for the team.

The workshop was a hit! By the end of the day, we had people coming and telling us - “I wish I had this earlier!”. We got people to introspect, connect to trends in the LxD world and figure out what they need to focus on in the next year.

This response, coupled with a serendipitous outreach from Lavinia at Offbeat, inspired us to create something even more impactful.

Coming July 2024

We’re SO excited to bring together - “Build your identity as a learning experience designer” an online 2 week program for learning experience designers.

This program is born out of the realisation that LxD roles are often ambiguous, making it difficult to define our own paths and communicate our value to others. It's about acknowledging that there's no such thing as an 'all-rounder LxD.' We all need to cultivate a diverse skillset while excelling in our unique strengths.

This program is your compass in the ever-evolving LxD landscape.

By joining us,

  • Gain clarity on the multifaceted nature of the LxD role

  • Identify your individual strengths and areas for growth

  • Chart a personalized learning journey for the year ahead

  • Connect with a community of like-minded peers

Don't just wander through the LxD landscape—navigate it with purpose.
