💭 Learning About Learning

Hi Learning,

My name is Srishti and I am a learning experience designer. You might not know me really well but you have been an integral part of my entire life and I have gotten to know you very closely. From being a fan girl to someone who is actively in your service, it’s been an interesting knowing you so far.

Over the past few weeks I’ve seen a lot of buzz around how you will evolve in the future. Some people are hopeful, while others are bleak. If you ask me - I am in the hopeful camp always! A colleague had once told me - “You need to have hope if you’re working with learning” and that has stuck with me.

The last few years have been nothing short of a world wind for you! First with the pandemic and now with the influx of AI. I can’t imagine how you are coping with so much rapid change. If you’re confused, anxious and nervous - know that you have many friends in the world who always have your back. I hope you can count me in one of them.

I feel people often misunderstand you.

As the world is getting smaller and smaller, I see people are running behind the next big thing. People forget that at a fundamental level, you symbolise change in an individual. And that is more than just AI, more than content or micro-learning or whatever is the new tool or fad that is trending. And while we keep evolving ways of interacting with you - you are everlasting. You are as omnipresent as our breath - present even if people don’t acknowledge your existence. Don’t you ever forget that.

I know it’s hard given the pressure but don’t try to become someone you are not. Don’t try to succumb to change you’re not ready for.

I know I will keep reminding the world of who you really are. Your are more than books or CBCs or AI or content - or whatever things people mistake you for. You are ephemeral! Every single living thing has a relationship with you - whether they know it or not. You are special and unique - don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Know I’m here if you ever need a friend.

Love, always
Srishti

Note: Whether you’re someone who works in learning or a learner - I invite you to write a letter to the future of learning. What conversation would you have with learning? Write it and tag me - I would love to hear from you!

🥜 Learning Nuggets

Learning fundamentally is messy.

But then that’s the fun part!

💥 Coolest Thing I Learnt this Week

11 L&D Trends to keep your eye on

I absolutely love the Handle with Brain Series by my friend Anamaria. Last week she spoke about 11 L&D trends she’s keeping here eye on this year. Here are 3 that spoke to me the most -

  • The rise of the self-directed learner

  • Solving real business challenges

  • Curation is creation

Check out the entire series here and add more to the list!

The Dream L&D Team

As learning is evolving, L&D teams need to too! Steph talks about 8 skills that are integral for learning teams today here. One’s that I feel have been gamechangers for our team at NextLeap? Graphic Design, Human Centred Design & Analytics!

Five Predictions for the Future of Learning in the Age of AI

I don’t think a conversation on the future of learning will be complete without mentioning AI in the mix. Here is an interesting article by the folks at a16z on what they envision. One thing I’m looking forward to personally? Sending assessment & feedback transform with AI.
