πŸ’ Learning About Learning

The secret sauce to learn better? Keep up the pace!

Learning is like running a marathon.

And in both cases, the secret sauce for success is momentum!

While running a marathon, the most important thing is pacing - to keep the same pace throughout the run. Keeping a steady momentum helps you use your energy optimally till the end of the race. Push yourself too hard in the beginning? You’ll loose steam eventually.

Learning is no different.

While learning something new as well, keeping a consistent pace is important to progress ahead. Momentum is key to motivation and mastery.

Here are 3 small ways of maintaining your momentum while learning:

1/ Start strong

Just like you need to stretch before any run to get your body ready, you also need to prepare your mind for learning. This could be as simple as doing a quick revision of what you learnt last. Make sure you are in an optimal conditions to learn - in terms of your outer & inner environment.

2/ The Goldilocks rule

Stick to the Goldilock’s rule - not too fast and not too slow. Pace your learning well! Make sure how you are progressing in your learning journey is consistent - consider the duration and frequency of learning.

3/ Appreciate wins

Be your own cheerleader! Celebrate small wins, milestones to keep yourself motivated. This will not only help you feel positive about your learning journey but also help you maintain that pace!

The biggest mistake you can make while learning is coming to it intermittently. Want to continue learning and growing? Keep up that pace!

πŸ₯œ Learning Nugget

Keep your learning flywheel going.

  1. Get Learning: Experiment (figure out what works) force (intensity), time (consistency).

  2. Keep Learning: Angle (double down on what works), force (intensity), time (consistency).

πŸ’₯ Coolest Thing I Learnt this Week

Building a Learning Habit

I’m a productivity junkie! I can’t not talk about habit building while talking about momentum in learning.

Last year I wrote this article on 5 ways in which you can do to build a learning habit (& stick to it!). Check it out here

Compounding is a superpower

Compounding applies beyond the world of finance. Even for skills and experience compound interest has a huge role to play - thanks for the reminder Ross!

Consistency is not what you think!

A gentle reminder that consistency is not going hard everyday -

πŸ”¦ Spotlight

I also celebrated some personal wins this week - all thanks to momentum & consistency!
