Let's get started...

๐Ÿ’ญ Building a Learning Habit

Learning as an adult is hard.

Here are 5 ways in which you can do to build a learning habit (& stick to it!):

1/ Block an hour to learn everyday โฒ๏ธ

Everyday from 9:30am - 10:30am my calendar is blocked with a โ€˜Learning Hourโ€™.

You have no idea how much you can do in just an hour everyday. Learning compounds. Pick your time of the day, pick your duration and get cracking!

2/ Share it with someone ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

I try to share what Iโ€™m learning with my partner, family, friends and colleagues. My writing also is me learning in public.

Bring up what youโ€™re learning over dinner table conversations, coffees. It will help you crystallise your own thoughts.

3/ Weekly roundup ๐Ÿ“…

During the week as I am reading, watching movies talking to people - I put them down on Notion. At the end of the week I go through everything.

Take some time at the end of the week to reflect on what you have learnt in the week. Pick your format!

4/ Make a learning charter ๐Ÿ—ป

Every year, I outline a learning charter - topics/ areas I want to dig deeper into. This is to get into the trenches & donโ€™t just snack on learning.

What is it that you want to learn in the next 6 months? Pick 1-2 things. Go deep.

5/ Make a learning budget ๐Ÿ’ธ

I set aside some money every year that I want to spend on just learning. Budgeting for your learning is a great way to make sure it gets done.

Budget your learning like you budget your groceries and rent!

Do you have something else that you do to build your learning habit? Tell me!

๐Ÿฅœ Semantics of a Learning Experience

What is the chair-ness of a chair?

Now replace โ€˜chairโ€™ with your learning experience. Remove the clutter, keep what matters most.

๐Ÿ’ฅ Coolest Thing I Learnt this Week

Attention is Zero Sum

I came across this statement in last week's edition of one of my favourite newsletters - Monday Musings by David Perell. Such as simple yet profound statement.

The statement was a stark reminder that my attention quota of the day is fixed and I spent the rest of my week being slightly more self aware.

The Energy Calendar

I am a productivity junkie and over the past few week's I've been thinking a lot about how I spend my time. I came across this concept of an energy calendar by Sahil Bloom. You look at your calendar and colour code everything in 3 colours:

  • Green = Energy Creating

  • Yellow = Neutral

  • Red = Energy Draining

Here is what it looked like for the busiest day I had last week -

Gave me so much insight into my day - try it out!

๐Ÿ”ฆ Spotlight

So excited to kick-off my mentor journey with my friends at Offbeat. With 2 sessions down and many more to go, Iโ€™m amazed by the amount I am learning in the process.

Looking forward to the next few months!

Don't forget to nerd out & learn something new this week!

And I'll see you next week :) A gentle reminder till then -
