Let's jump right in!

💭 The Case for Asynchronous Learning

I wrote an article for the Transcend Network blog based on the LxP Jam I did for their community earlier this year on ‘The role of Async Communication in Learning’. I talk about what I learnt from the Jam from 20+ practitioners in learning, reflect on our experiences at NextLeap and amazing communities like L&D Shakers that I am a part of of. Here is a sneak peek -

Homework has a bad rep. Children detest it in school, adults up-skilling themselves are unable to find time for it. But we need homework in all our learning.

In the world of learning design, homework falls under what we call ‘asynchronous learning’. And much like homework, async learning also has a bad rep.

Here are 5 reasons why homework or rather, async learning is a great additions to classrooms -

1. Learning is fundamentally unconstrained

2. More diverse connections

3. Increased flexibility

4. Flipping the classroom

5. Time to reflect

Curious to know more about this?

🥜 The Learning Experience Cocktail

Great learning experiences are like cocktails.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that. The right balance makes it enjoyable and memorable!

💥 Coolest Things I Learnt this Week

Finding happiness in my kitchen

It's been a good week in my kitchen! Last week I wrote about finding balance and time to rest. If feel my kitchen is one place where I can see that balance manifest very instantly.

Fun fact: I absolutely love cooking! When I'm feeling grounded, I feel more inspired to cook and try out new things. When I'm burnt out it feels like a chore!

Become a reporter, not a creator

I came across this video ^ in Ant Pugh's newsletter last week and it changed the way I've been looking at my writing at a very fundamental level. I've loved Ant's newsletter and his way to connect the mundane, everyday life to learning. And this is probably the best advice I've got on writing:

Instead of thinking about creating content - look at it like documenting.

🔦 Spotlight

Got featured in this month's Flow / Fiero - a newsletter run by my friend Gustavo da Cunha Pimenta!

Here are 5 things I talk about:

  • A quote worth reflecting on

  • A social media account I follow

  • A newsletter I follow

  • A learning journey that made the difference

  • A community where I feel at home

Don't forget to nerd out & learn something new this week!
