Learning Nerdโs Diary #27 ๐
Hi folks!
Welcome back to the Learning Nerdโs Diary.
Holiday season has kicked in for me already! Can feel the days slowing down and the craving for sweets increasing (Ahem). Also heads-up, this is the last Diary for this year! Will take the last week off to travel & spend time with family. Letโs jump right in โฆ
Single-player vs Multi-player Learning
Design Education is on the radical side of the spectrum as far as education goes. No exams, project based work and group projects entice a bunch of people to join design schools every year. A bunch of people though, drop out during the first year itself.
The reason? The โradical-nessโ in design education is more than just a lack of exams. Itโs a shift in mindset. For 18 years of our lives, conventional schools advocate Single-player Learning. Contrary to that, Design education advocates Multi-player Learning.

Coolest Things I Learnt This Week
Cooking is like Jazz: I started cooking when I was 10 years old. I started with something pretty basic - just eggs. Scrambled, fried and a good fluffy omelette. I would need a little assistance initially, but slowly I gained confidence to cook on my own and soon enough I was experimenting! My 12 year old self was super proud of the cheese salami omelette I made one Sunday.
When I moved out of home, I learnt how to cook Indian food - never having to worry about it while I was home. I lived alone and cooked 3 meals a day - finding my solace in a bowl of noodles or some pasta after a rough day at work.
Now I cook like a Jazz musician. Check it out the whole article here
Spaces & aches & pains: I started going back to the box this week after forever. I got up at 5:30am, kicked myself out of bed - feeling accomplished even before I made it there! Even though I have been working out at home, going to the box brought with it a different energy altogether - somehow even getting up became a lot easier. Itโs amazing how spaces have the power to make you feel a certain way. I was reminded of this article I wrote many years back around the same.
End of year reflection: Somehow this time fo the year also makes me extremely reflective. Iโve been taking the last week of December off for a couple of years now & I use the time to reflect & plan for the new year. Itโs been a good year, despite everything around - so really looking forward to spending some time to unwind and decompress.
That's it for this week folks, see you around!
