Coolest Things I Learnt This Week

Writer’s can’t holiday: I went from writing 3 articles every week to hitting a writer’s block. About two weeks back I took a break from writing. I was headed home for the holidays and wanted to take it a bit easy. Sounds innocent enough right? I thought the same.

I came back after my break having lots to write about but suddenly feeling under confident about my ability to articulate what I was thinking. In a week imposter syndrome had kicked in. Wow.

Staying on top of things: My motivation to get up in the morning has plummeted these past few weeks because I injured my back and can’t workout right now. This week I made a conscious effort to change my routine. I managed to get up early, stretch and put in a solid 2 hours of work before my meetings start for the day. I managed to finish the most important thing I needed to do first thing in the morning. Biggest difference? I felt more in control of my day and as a result was happier and felt energised throughout the day!

A lesson in Perspective: I bumped into someone in the lift of my apartment this week. Here is the conversation I had:

Aunty: “Have you moved here recently?”

Me: “No no I've been here for 6 months!”

Aunty: “Oh that's recent, I've been coming here for 20 years now!”

I would not have called 6 months recent by any measure!

That's it for this week folks, see you around!
