Learning Nerd’s Diary #08 πŸ§‘πŸ»β€πŸ€β€πŸ§‘πŸ»

Hi folks!

Welcome back to the the Learning Nerd’s Diary.

This week I was working all 7 days so this is me stumbling into this week and here -

Feeding off People

This week was a break from my usual work from home routine. Every single day I was out of home and I met someone or the other in-person - colleagues, customers, strangers. I realised that after a year of being at home, meeting people can get very exhausting. It was hard to imagine a time where I would do this for weeks on end as a field researcher.

But there was just something about meeting people in person that fuelled me. I was excited to get to work everyday despite the exhaustion. I didn’t realise just how much I was missing this. I sincerely hope this stays - definitely trying to enjoy this while it lasts.

Coolest Things I Learnt This Week

I love kids and I’m not a pedo: One of my favourite projects from college was one where I was designing a toy for kids. Despite it still being half finished and not fully thought through (as college projects often are) it’s one of those projects that I am the most proud of. It was also the first time I was designing something for children - the first of many.

I spent this weekend with a group of 12 kids and I had a blast! I absolutely love the energy and excitement kids bring and was over the moon to spend time with them after so long.

Doing things that don’t come naturally to you: I’m learning how to do a push up with my coach. This week while practicing Sid, my coach said -

β€œWe don't pull things this close to our body, so our muscles are not used to this movement - that is why a push up doesn't come naturally to us.”

Sid has many such nuggets of wisdom during our classes. This particular one was interesting because it made so much sense from a learning point of view. We resist change and things that don’t come naturally to us - but like a push-up it’s something that we can learn if we try.

Nostalgia MAXX: It was a great week in the kitchen. For one, there was a lot of good food that came out of it but also because I ended up cooking a lot of nostalgia as well. Childhood favourites like Punjabi Kadhi, Kale Chane and Halwa were made after a long time. There is just something warm and fuzzy about eating food you grew up with. Here is a quick glimpse -

That's it for this week folks, see you around!
