Fight or Nap (Atomic Essay Day 01)
Today was one of those days - you know the one right where you get up with a headache and feel heavy in your chest for no apparent reason at all? That was today for me. What did I do? I took a nap.
One of the weirdest thing about me is that whenever I am super stressed, my first instinct is to take a nap. What's funnier still is that this is something that my dad AND my sister also do. And before you say it, no it's not learnt behaviour. Stress was not really a conversation growing up so imagine my surprise when I discovered that I'm not alone - oh the relief! The world around me could be burning and I know a simple nap can fix it - or atleast help me deal with it.
I got up from my nap feeling immediately better - just a small reminder that even though it might feel like it, sometimes you're not in the eye of the storm after all. Often it is absence of space, perspective, rest or some combination of the three. So the next time you're feeling stressed and overwhelmed? Take that nap or find whatever version of it works for you.
